Lower Edmonton
The Lower Edmonton ward is the northern part of the large area covered by the N9 postcode, with the southern part being Upper Edmonton. The name Lower Edmonton originates from centuries ago, when Edmonton was mentioned in the Domesday book under the name
Adhelmstone.
The arrival of the Great Eastern Railway in 1872 transformed Lower Edmonton from a small agricultural hamlet to the suburb it is today, with many examples of impressive Georgian architecture still remaining.
Lower Edmonton is also home to a number schools, as well as the Edmonton Eagles Boxing Club which provides activities for many young people in the area.
