Edmonton MP Andy Love has joined a national campaign in Parliament to make local residents aware of the deadly threat of Carbon Monoxide poisoning. With new research showing that 89 percent of households in London are putting themselves at risk by not having an audible Carbon Monoxide alarm, Andy is encouraging his Edmonton constituents to ‘Be Alarmed!.’

Carbon Monoxide alarms can be bought from DIY stores, supermarkets, high street shops, or directly from energy suppliers and a number of retailers will be offering them at discounted prices in support of the campaign. Householders can also increase their Carbon Monoxide awareness by getting all fuel burning appliances serviced annually by a registered engineer.

Adding his support to the campaign, Andy said…

“I’d like to see it become a legal requirement for landlords to fit a Carbon Monoxide alarm before they can receive their annual gas safety certificate, and for all new homes to come with alarms ready-installed.

“Carbon Monoxide is a deadly gas that has no colour, taste or smell so it’s impossible to detect without an alarm. I don’t want to hear about any of my constituents dying of Carbon Monoxide poisoning so I’m urging everyone to get an alarm today or get on to their landlord to get one fitted as soon as possible.”
